NetView — Privacy Policy

NetView ("the app") is a personal, non-commercial tool for viewing mobile network diagnostic information on Android devices. This policy describes what data the app accesses and how it is handled.

Data Collected

The app accesses the following information on-device only:

• Cell network information — serving cell identity (Cell ID, PCI, EARFCN, TAC), signal measurements (RSRP, RSRQ, SINR), network type (2G/3G/4G/5G), carrier name, and carrier aggregation status.
• SIM card information — display name, carrier name, MCC/MNC. No SIM serial number or IMSI is read.
• Location (GPS) — used solely to display your current coordinates on-screen. Required by Android to access cell identity information.
• Wi-Fi information — connected network SSID/BSSID, signal strength, frequency, IP address, and nearby access points.

How Data Is Used

• All data is displayed locally on your device in real time.
• No data is transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party.
• No data is stored persistently beyond the current app session, except optional debug log files written to your device storage at your explicit request.
• No analytics, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting services are included in the app.

Permissions Used

• READ_PHONE_STATE — to read cell and SIM information.
• READ_PRECISE_PHONE_STATE — to access detailed cell measurements on supported devices.
• ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION — required by Android to read cell identities and to display GPS coordinates.
• ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — fallback location permission.
• ACCESS_WIFI_STATE — to read Wi-Fi network information.
• INTERNET — used only to perform a periodic latency measurement (TCP connect to 8.8.8.8:53). No user data is transmitted.

Data Sharing

No data collected by the app is shared with any third party, advertiser, or analytics service.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated date.
